Child Care Basics Course

Child Care Basics Course

Creation of the Child Care Basics Curriculum Guide was the result of the combined efforts of Early Learning professionals from across the state of Washington and draws from the larger community of Early Childhood Education.

The purpose of the Child Care Basics is to provide a foundation of basic core knowledge about child development, guidance and behavior, health, and safety.

The curriculum presents an introduction to the important content areas of early childhood education. It is based on the Child Care Center Licensing Guidebook 2nd ed. (2006). DEL-LC 2001 (x) 10/06; The Washington State Core Competencies for Early Care and Education Professionals is the foundation for the learning outcomes.

The curriculum has been written to be presented in ten three-hour modules face-to-face, however the online course is self-paced and may take more or less time to demonstrate the required student outcomes.
